Hi back again with agarwoodindonesia.
This web had survive from a cracker attack few weeks back, he changed my password and my username email also the template of this web. But Alhamdulillah with help of a friend I get it back and make some security patch here and there.
Ok… after so many months that I never write again, now I will write again. This time about cheaters. In business it this common that we found an anti social behaviour that willing to do anything for his or hers profit and margin. This is also happened in agarwood business.
Now we shall talk about wood first because wood for many people is the key of interest. How do they cheat wood ?
1. Talking big and boasting about the wood grade that is actually they don’t know about it ( this happened to unprofesional sellers)
2. Spraying with water or salt water to gain more weight,( I suggest you to buy wood in dry condition since if it’s dry you will know it’s real character)
3. Putting on dirt, glue, wires, iron rod inside the wood that is hollow so the wood gain more weight and density
4. Spray the wood with sewing machine oil so the woods will look shiny like plastic ( woods can be shiny if the resin content inside it is high but not all necessary like that only the high grade will have such) from it looks you will know how. They tend to be pale and had greasy smell.
5. Selling you BMW or gaharu buaya and saying it was real.
And as for the oil :
Oil is quite difficult to the untrained nose since it do need specific experience with lots and lots of oil. But these cheating techniques is common to be use elsewhere.
1. Selling gaharu buaya oil and claimed it was real
2. Mixing the oil with other essential oil such as vetiver oil to gain more weight
3. Mixing the oil with fragrance oil
But wait cheaters not always attack buyers, we distillers are also being object of scam too. So sometimes we can hit by them hard….
like my friend whom distilled ginger. He ordered 1 tonnes of ginger and only 700 Kg of it are gingers others is trash and trash. This also happened to agarwood. Sometimes the one who sell the wood doesn’t understand the grade for the oil distillation since grading between wood that sell as incense is quite different with grading for oil distillation, incense grade are not suitable for distillation…since the wood will contain more resin and lesser oil rather than distillation grade wood. And it will be a waste of money. So don’t worry of getting cheated as long as you are becareful you will find the best quality goods that suits you. Have a nice day and thanks for reading.
